Out of My Heart Book Review
My perspective on the book out of my heart. I was overjoyed to see this book on the shelf at target, to see the second book of a story and characters that were truly fascinating to read about made me so excited to sit down and read it.
Just was some background information, the main character in these books is a teen named Melody. Melody has a medical condition that makes it so she can’t walk, and she can’t talk, which often makes her frustrated when people don’t know what she wants to communicate and that she needs help to do basically everything in her life. In the first book Melody must overcome challenged that comes with being in a “normal” classroom rather than with other kids with special needs. She finds new passions and people that welcome her and except for who she truly is.
One reasoning I found this book to be so interesting to read is that I couldn’t relate to it. People often feel seen in book that connect in a level of similarity, but I love this book because I was seeing someone that lives a completely different life than me. In this book she found a camp that was specifically designed for kids that have disabilities so that they were able to experience things that might have not been accessible to her in the past because others might not be specifically trained on how to safely allow these kids to be included. Melody finally feels like she is around people that are like her, and understand some struggles that she has on an everyday basis. There are some worries that quickly wash away with the thought of being at a week long camp in the woods, especially for her helocopter mom, but alas they have protocol for everything which helps everyones nerves.
This is one of my favorite books that ever exists that I highly recommend it to everyone especially if you love a story that if full of perspectives that aren't always brought to life.
