Analyzing Songs from The Tortured Poets Department

 Hello Blog Readers,

In this past month I have picked up new books to read but haven't had much time to sit down and read as I'm most of you can relate to. I've spent a lot of time at my computer which means I'm also listening to a lot of music. This month in particular I've been listening to the The Tortured Poets Department by Taylor Swift that has recently come out. So, for this blog post I would like to share and analyze some of my favorite songs off of The Tortured Poets Department.

The Tortured Poets Department - This songs immediately intrigued me because it has the same title as the album. I truly love the rhyme scheme that is presented in this song with a steady beat throughout the song that makes this song feel really natural. My favorite lyric in this song would have to be, "And who's gonna know you like me" because I think it shows a deep relationship between two people that I think lots of people can relate to. 8/10

Down Bad - This song made me on the edge of my seat when hearing it for the first one. I love to make guesses on what my favorite song on the album will be before it comes out and this is the song I chose, and indeed, it is my favorite song off the album. This song talks about the outside perspective of ones relationship, reflecting on how much you might have lost yourself because you've fallen for someone and missing it but also having the mature perspective to see that it wasn't healthy. My favorite lyric in this song is, "They'll say that I'm nuts if I talk about the existence of you". I think that this is good say to explain other people perspective on your relationship if you're scared others might have a negative opinion. 9/10

Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? - This took me by surprise in all the perfect ways. This song talks about what it might sound like. She is speaking about how she could just stand there and smile while everything is going on around her but she is also very capable to sharing her opinions and doing a lot of damage. My favorite lyric in this song is, "I am what I am cause you trained me". I think that this lets us into Taylors life a lot to see that she has gone through a lot of media training even when people disagree about how she publicly presents herself.

Have a great summer!
